DAY 1 – NEW YORK • ZURICH
Begin your Passion Play journey by departing for Zurich. Meals and overnight
on board.
DAY 2 – ZURICH • LUCERNE
Arrive at Zurich airport. Our tour guide will meet us after customs
and take us on an orientation tour of Zurich to view Zwingli sites such
as the Bahnhofstrasse. We then depart to the lovely lakeshore city of
Lucerne. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 3 – LUCERNE
This morning we take a walking-tour of Old Town featuring such sites
as the open air market, the wooden covered bridges of Kapell and Spreuer
and the Brucke and the Lion Monument. The rest of the afternoon is at
leisure for shopping and relaxing. The most adventurous may choose to
hike Mt. Pilatus or Rigi Kulm or, take a boat trip on the lake. Return
to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 – LUCERNE • OBERAMMERAU
This morning we depart Switzerland for Austria and Germany. Enroute
we will enter the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein. We will have a
lunch stop in Vaduz and proceed through the Voral Mountains and the
Arlberg pass to Germany. Before arriving in Oberammergau, we will visit
King Ludwig II’s Castle Neuschwanstein. Dinner and overnight at
our hotel.
DAY 5 – OBERAMMERGAU
Today we enjoy a full day in Oberammergau for the Passion Play. The
village is located in the Bavarian Alps and is famous for its woodcarving
industry. In the year 1633, the town was stricken by the plague and
in desperation the people of the village took an oath that they would
stage a performance of the Passion of Jesus every 10 years in hopes
the plague would vanish and save their town. The town was saved and
from 1690 onwards, the play has been performed regularly every 10 years.
Performed in an open-air stage, the play takes eight hours to perform
while the 124 speaking parts are performed by inhabitants of the village.
Lunch and dinner will be provided.

DAY 6 – OBERAMMERGAU • MILAN
After breakfast we depart to the Alps, where we enjoy lunch in the fashionable
jet-set ski resort of St. Moritz. We proceed along the Maloja Pass and
Lake Como to Milan, Italy. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 – MILAN • VENICE (Mestre)
This morning we take a panoramic guided tour of Milan featuring such
sights as the Scala Opera, the Cathedral and the Maria delle Grazie
to view Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, the Last Supper.
We then take a drive to romantic Verona, place of the tragic story of
Romeo and Juliet and view the infamous balcony. Dinner and overnight
at our hotel in Venice Mestre.
DAY 8 – VENICE
After breakfast we transfer to Piazzale Roma and take the “vaporretto”
into Venice. We take a walking tour of this fascinating city to view
such sites as the gondolas, St. Mark’s Square, the Basilica, the
Bridge of Sighs, the canals and the Doges Palace. The rest of the day
is at leisure. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 9 – VENICE • FLORENCE
This morning we depart Venice for Florence as we drive along the Venezian
Gulf down to Ravenna, called the Byzantium of the West, to see the mosaics
of Europe. The rest of the day is at leisure. Return to the hotel for
dinner and overnight.
DAY 10 – FLORENCE
Today we take a walking tour of the Cradle of the Renaissance, Florence.
We will view the multi-colored marble Cathedral of the Duomo, the Campanile
tower, the Baptistry, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte
Vecchio, and a visit to the Academia to see the Statue of David. The
afternoon is at leisure. We have an optional visit to the Uffizi Museum
to marvel over Botticelli’s Venus or visit the Pitti Palace treasures.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 11 – FLORENCE • ASSISI • ROME
Take a drive through scenic Tuscany passing the two mystical medieval
cities of Siena and Perugia on our way to St. Francis’ Assisi,
the city of birds and silence where we stop for a lunch and a guided
walking tour including a visit to St. Francis’ Basilica. Proceed
south to the Eternal City of Rome for dinner and overnight.
DAY 12 – ANCIENT ROME • CATACOMBS
After breakfast we prepare for a walking tour of Piazza and Palazzo
Venezia, Victor Emanuel II monument the Trevi Fountain including visits
to the Roman Forum and Coliseum. In the afternoon we will visit the
Holy Stairs (brought from Jerusalem) which were climbed by Christ on
the day of his Passion, St John’s Gate, Via Latina, Old Appia
Way, Chapel of “Domine Quo Vadis?”, Catacombs of St. Callixtus
or St. Sebastian the site of over 125,000 martyrdoms, St. Sebastian’s
Gate, the Caracalla Baths, and the Circus Maximus. Return to your hotel
for dinner and overnight.
DAY 13 – VATICAN • SISTINE CHAPEL
Today we continue to explore Rome during our tour of St. Peter’s
Basilica and the Vatican with the Sistine Chapel. Afternoon at leisure
for shopping and individual sightseeing. Farewell dinner at the hotel.
DAY 14 – ROME • NEW YORK
Transfer to the Airport and depart on our hometown flight.
