DAY 1 – NEW YORK • FRANKFURT
Depart for Frankfurt, Germany. Meals and overnight on board.

DAY 2 • FRANKFURT • COCHEM
Arrive in Frankfurt where we are met and transfered to board a Rhine cruiser and enjoy a leisurely cruise to St. Goarshausen, passing the legendary Rock of the Lorelei. Dinner and overnight in Cochem on the Mosel River.

DAY 3 • COCHEM • EISENACH
Travel through beautiful German countryside to Thuringia, the heart of Germany, and the famous Wartburg Castle in Eisenach. Reception with the Mayor in the Old City Hall. After dinner hike to the castle or sip an “Eisenacher beer” on the Hainstein Terrace at the foot of the castle. Dinner and overnight Haus Hainstein.

DAY 4 • EISENACH
This morning we visit the Wartburg Castle, where Luther translated the New Testament into German. The walking tour of Eisenach includes the Luther House, St. George’s Church and the Luther Memorial as well as the Bach Family House and Museum. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.



DAY 5 • EISENACH • ROTHENBURG
After breakfast we take a drive along the Romanic Road via Nordlingen and Dinkelsbuhl. We visit Neuendetelsau, the founding village of Wartburg College for a brief tour by Director Becker. Lunch in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Dinner and overnight along the Romantic Highway.

DAY 6 • AUGSBURG • MUNICH

This morning we travel to Augsburg.. See the Protestant Church of St. Anne, (starting point of the Reformation in Augsburg) the Carmelite Monastery of St. Anne, where Luther lived during his stays in Augsburg and the Renaissance Town Hall. Proceed to Munich for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 • MUNICH
This morning a guided panoramic city tour by bus takes us to Marienplatz, the lovely Church of our Lady, the Palace, the City Hall with its famous Glockenspeil Clock, and the Olympic Village. The afternoon is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 8 • MUNICH • OBERAMMERGAU
Departing Munich this morning we visit the former concentration camp of Dachau. We stop and have a look at the Wies Church, Domenikus Zimmerman’s amazing master-piece of Bavarian roccoco before arriving in Oberammergau. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 9 • OBERAMMERGAU • GARMISCH
Full day in Oberammergau for the Passion Play. A village in the Bavarian Alps, famous for its woodcarving industry. In the year 1633, the town was stricken by the plague. In desperation the people of the village took an oath that they would stage a performance of the Passion of Jesus every 10 years if the plague would vanish and save their town. The town was saved and the first performance took place in 1634. From 1690 on, the play has been performed regularly every 10 years. The play takes almost eight hours to perform and the 124 speaking parts are performed by inhabitants of the village. The audience is seated in a roofed auditorium while the stage is open-air. Lunch and dinner are included. Drive to the breathtaking Olympic resort town of Garmish Parten Kirchen for overnight.

DAY 10 • GARMISH • SALZBURG
Drive scenic mountain roads to Salzburg, Austria, the “City of Mozart” and the “Sound of Music”. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 11 • SALZBURG • BERCHTESGADEN
Morning walking tour of Salzburg, including the Mirabelle Gardens, Cathedral and an optional ride up the funicular for a breathtaking view of the city. After lunch travel to the mountain town of Berchtesgaden, walk around the lake and stop for coffee at the foot of Germany’s only glacier in Hintersee. Return to Salzburg via the spectacular mountain “Ringstrasse” for a night of cultural oppurtunities. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 12 • SALZBURG • INNSBRUCK
Today we drive through the Tyrolean Alps as we continue to Innsbruck for an orientation drive to catch a glimpse of the Maria Theresien Strasse, the Belfry and the charming Little Golden Roof. Visit the Olympic ski jump for a spectacular view of the city, mountains and Inn valley. Dinner and overnight.


DAY 13 • INNSBRUCK • GRINDELWALD
This morning we head for Switzerland. En route we will enter the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein and stop in Vaduz. Continue to Lucerne. Visit the lion monument, tribute to the fallen Swiss guards, stroll along the lake or shop. Proceed to Grindelwald with a stop at the woodcarving village of Brienz.

DAY 14 • GRINDELWALD
Drive up into the Lauterbrunnen valley with its beautiful waterfalls. Weather permitting, you are encouraged to take the cogwheel train ($80 per person) to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railroad station in the world. Meet the bus in Gindelwald, at the foot of the ice-capped mountains. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 15 • INTERLAKEN • HEIDELBERG
Depart Interlaken this morning for Heidelberg via Bern. Brief stop at the famous bear pits. See the famous covered sidewalks of the Swiss Capital City. Farewell dinner and overnight at the hotel at Heidelberg on the Neckar.

DAY 16 • FRANKFURT • NEW YORK
Transfer to the airport where we board our hometown flight to the U.S.A. Arrive home the same day with wonderful memories of The Passion Play and our European Adventure. Have A Very Pleasant Journey!
